Who I am

This website belongs to Lena Kristin, a Norwegian author based in the UK. I'm responsible for the personal information collected here. Contact me at hello@lenakristin.com.

What I collect and why

Newsletter. If you join the Inner Circle, I collect your email address and, if you give it, your first name. I use them to send the newsletter you asked for, based on your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing. My newsletter provider, Kit, also records your IP address and approximate location, when and on which page you signed up, how you found the sign-up page (for example, which website linked you there), your device and email app, and whether my emails are delivered, opened and clicked. It does this using tracking pixels and tracked links, so I can see what readers find useful. Kit also uses this activity to give each reader an engagement score, which helps me keep the list healthy. You agree to this when you sign up.

Emails. If you email me, I use your address, your name and your message only to reply to you. I do this because I have a legitimate interest in answering you.

Visiting. This site has no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. My host, Cloudflare, processes your IP address and browser details to deliver the site and protect it from attacks, which is a legitimate interest. It may set security cookies that are strictly necessary for this.

You don't have to give me any information, but I can't send the newsletter without an email address. I never sell or share your information for anyone else's marketing, and I don't make automated decisions about you.

Age

My books and newsletter contain explicit adult content and are for readers aged 18 and over. If you believe someone under 18 has signed up, contact me and I'll remove them.

Who else handles it

Kit (newsletter), Cloudflare (website hosting and email forwarding) and Google (my email inbox, through Gmail). Kit hosts my sign-up page on my behalf. Kit, Cloudflare and Google are based in the US. When your information goes there, it's protected by safeguards approved under UK law, such as the UK–US data bridge or standard contract terms.

How long I keep it

Newsletter details: while you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your details are marked as unsubscribed so you're never emailed again by mistake, and I delete them within 12 months. Email me if you'd like them deleted sooner.

Emails you send me: I delete them within two years.

Website visits: I don't store this technical data myself. Cloudflare keeps it for a limited time under its own policies.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, delete or get a copy of your information, and you can object to or limit how I use it. Unsubscribe using the link in any newsletter email. For anything else, email hello@lenakristin.com. I'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or to the data protection authority where you live. I'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.

Changes

If this notice changes, I'll post the new version here with a new date.
